Minutes:

STATEMENT OF THE REASONS FOR THE DECISION:

To obtain approval from the Portfolio Holder to allocate £2,500 Move More capital funding towards ball stop boundary netting, to increase play capacity at Ashcombe Park Cricket Club in Cheddleton.

The Move More capital fund was allocated £100,000 in 2024/25 budget and was established to support officers in achieving the strategy over a two-year period covering 2024/25 and 2025/26. In addition to the £100,000, there was also £15,240 left over from the previous Outdoor Sports Capital Fund, which was transferred from the previous financial year, making a total of £115,240.

In July 2024 Staffordshire Moorlands District Council received a request from Ashcombe Park Cricket Club for assistance with funding, to enable them to erect a high netting system along the boundary edge of their cricket field to increase pitch capacity, to try to encourage more people into cricket, mainly girls/women and boys.
