REASONS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION

Northern Railway (NR) plans to implement Pay and Display car parking on the Whaley Bridge Train Station car park (‘the car park’), which is partly owned by High Peak Borough Council (HPBC).

ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED

The alternative option is to decline the opportunity and for NR to charge on its half of the car park, keeping the HPBC side free for drivers.  This will cause significant confusion for residents and visitors and will invariably lead to a significant drain on Council resources and public image (Not recommended).

RESOLVED:

That the arrangement as set out in the report, to allow Northern Railway (NR) to implement Pay and Display car parking on the  Whaley Bridge Train Station car park, which is partly owned by High Peak Borough Council), be approved.
