RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting held on 2 September 2020 be approved as a correct record.

Consideration was given to the consultation exercise and public sector survey in respect of a review by the Committee for Standards in Public Life into current principles, institutions, and arrangements for upholding standards in public life.  Discussion took place on promoting best practice.  Any additional responses by early December were welcomed. 

RESOLVED: That the contents of the report be noted and Officers authorised to feed back any relevant response to the consultation exercise.

A review of the work of the Standards Committee during 2019/2020 was considered.  It was reported that the Parish Councillors, who had expressed interest in the Co-opted Town/Parish representative vacancies had resigned and replacements would be sought.  The vacancy for an Independent person would be considered at the next Council meeting.

Consideration was given to the content of the Ombudsman’s Annual Letter for the period April 2019 – March 2020.

There was a review of councillor development activities held over the last 12

months. It was reported that course materials and presentations were available to all members via the councillors’ portal on the intranet.
